Description:
An early spring arrival for this Hickory Tussock Moth. The hind wings are usually a uniform cream color, whereas this one has dark brown veins on the upper part and some spotting on the underside (see 3rd and 4th pictures). The adults are supposedly non-feeding, although the mouthparts are present. Almost 2 cm in length. Family Erebidae, Subfamily Arctiinae.
Habitat:
Found on a wall under lights. Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
