Field Notes

Description:

stunning metallic blue body with black edged clear wings

Habitat:

edge of tropical rainforest

Notes:

I spotted this along the trail to Hornoyaco falls, near Mocoa. It's one of the most beautiful clearwings I've ever seen. I was a few minutes away from entering the forest proper to see the falls when I passed a patch of flowering bushes. Some looked like Ageratum. There were a lot of insects around and after I saw this, I hung out for 20 minutes, just to see what else would show up and I'm glad I did.

I love these moths. Similar to the one I saw in Belize this year -except mine was striped
