Description:

Small inchworm (geometer). Light green. Approx 1 inch.

Habitat:

Not sure. Found it on backpack while hiking through scrub oak.

Inchworms are not real worms they are Geometer moth larvae , or Geometridae. There are over 35,000 species of Geometridae moths. Geometer means to “measure the earth” which is what the caterpillars appear to be doing when they inch along.
