Field Notes

Description:

Small green reptile about 6 inches in height with a length of approximately 24 inches from nose to tail. Predominately bright green with lighter stripes of white and yellow.

Habitat:

This individual lives in a planted sea grape hedge along a sidewalk behind a shopping plaza. Close proximity to a desert like scrub habitat as well as clear freshwater ponds nearby.

Notes:

I have been observing the "comeback" of these non-native reptiles here in Pam Beach County. Cold temperature nearly wiped them out with only very small surviving. Larger individuals are nearby. I have seen this little guy for a few days and had to hide behind objects to get the shot. Iguana's seem to have human shapes imprinted in their brains. They do not seem to understand human shapes behind things or in vehicles.
