Field Notes

Description:

Elongated body,black and white patterning on back resembling a "QR" code. All over buckwheat in my garden but not on any other plants. Appeared in last couple days, there maybe a thousand of them.

Habitat:

Garden in Northern Arizona.

Someone suggested Epicauta pardalis for the black and white ones, but I hadn't noticed the gray ones till you mentioned seeing more than one kind in the photo. Thank you
Looks like there's a second species of blister beetle in the first photo - white with black spots. Maybe another Epicauta? Epicauta apache?
