Caesalpinia pyramidalis, conhecida popularmente pelo nome de catingueira, é uma árvore caducifólia nativa da caatinga.
É uma espécie de ampla dispersão no Nordeste semi-árido, podendo ser encontrada em diversas associações vegetais, crescendo bem nas várzeas úmidas, onde chega a atingir mais de 10 m e poucos centímetros de diâmetro na base. Ocorre nos Estados do Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe e Bahia, sendo considerada endêmica da caatinga.

Caesalpinia pyramidalis, popularly known by the name of catingueira, is a deciduous tree native to the savanna.
It is a kind of wide dispersion in the semi-arid Northeast, can be found in several plant associations, growing well in moist meadows, where it reaches more than 10 m and a few centimeters in diameter at the base. Occurs in the states of Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and Bahia, considered endemic savanna.
