Field Notes

Description:

Yellow wasp with brown banding on the abdomen and 3 brown bands on the thorax. About 1 cm long. Family Ichneumonidae. There is a night flying soldier fly that mimics this wasp and looks the same (except for the ovipositor and antennae). I'm waiting for one to show up to include it in a spotting. Note: on 23 June 2013, I spotted the Soldier Fly Mimic:

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
