Field Notes

Description:

This is a medium-sized warbler. The adult has a plain brown back and pale underparts. It can easily be confused with Reed Warbler, Marsh Warbler and some of the Hippolais warblers. It is most like Reed Warbler but is greyer on the back, the forehead is less flattened and the bill is less strong and pointed. The sexes are identical, as with most warblers, but young birds are yellower below.

Habitat:

Seen at a farm near a beach.

Notes:

The habitat is different from the reed beds favoured by Reed Warbler or the rank vegetation of Marsh Warbler, this species chooses trees or bushes as songposts. Like most warblers, Blyth's Reed Warbler is insectivorous, but will take other small food items, including berries. This bird is named after the British zoologist Edward Blyth.

Sorry to hear about Uttarakhand. It indeed is a sad situation :( difficult to read about it and look at the pictures.
Read about Canada, Uttarakhand had worst rains ever :-( the season for Mangoes is almost over, we might still get them for 2 weeks more :-)
Alberta , Canada had unusual weather and rainfall. Otherwise monsoons can be a lot of fun. Specially ,Mangoes?
Thanks Jemma! Monsoon seems to be good on our part but up north it is it is bad :-(
