Field Notes

Description:

Short brown and white shorebirds. I believe them to be some kind of Snipe or Plover, but am unsure. The foremost bird in the first photo has a relatively longer beak than the rest and I'm wondering if that's due to a difference in maturity or species.

Habitat:

Wetlands and shallow water.

Notes:

This bird was seen at an extremely dry Cheyenne Bottoms. Less than 1% of the wetlands had water during the Spring of 2013.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Photo 1 shows Stilt Sandpipers (front two birds) and maybe White-rumped/Baird's in the back. Tough call from these photos. I'd need a larger version of photo 2, since I can't access the original size.
