Field Notes

Description:

Smallish black and white bird. It has white brow, shoulder stripe and outer tail feathers.

Habitat:

The Hotel had a water feature with a tree (shown in the third photo) in which the avian couple even had a nest. I would never have believed this could be a habitat for a bird! How resilient; how adaptable life is! How little they need.

Notes:

The species epithet is derived from the Indian city of Madras (now Chennai).
