Field Notes
Description:
Definitely a wolf spider. I hope someone could possibly give its actual scientific name but it seems to be very common in Michigan. The spider carries its young in a sac connected to its abdomen.
Habitat:
Tall grasses and underneath logs and other plant debris. Also found underneath waterspouts and in between the walls of my house and the tall grass that lines it.
Notes:
They don't seem to mind huddling in groups. I've seen as many as 6 living in close proximity to each other without attacking one another. The spider itself seems to be extremely non-aggressive and will even allow you to grab and hold it.
