So, do you think this is a tecate cypress? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/14041206 I saw it in Spain, but there are lots of Meditarranian plants from around the world there.
Thank you both for your input! I looked it up on a natural history catalog of California that my professor compiled. Anna, I also agree they look more like the tecate cypress. I think they're a different variety from the blue ones. These pop open along the seams when they dry and drop the seeds. The open pod makes a wonderful texture tool for making ceramics!
Hm, I thought so too, but I've never seen them brown and leathery like this. And they were much bigger than the little blue berries I've seen.
I think these are cedar berries.
