Lesser Meadow Katydid
Conocephalus sp.
10.7313, 122.532
Field Notes
Description:
Mostly just green with a brownish back. Probably a male, as females have ovipositors and this one clearly lacks any of it.
Habitat:
Found on the side of the wall, attracted by porch lights. Usually would be found in grassy areas.
Notes:
I'd usually skip on photographing grasshoppers or katydids as I'd find them boring or hard to identify but I was astonished when I see this katydid, its antennas are twice its body length! The genus is kinda diverse and they all look quite similar to each other so I'll keep it at the genus level.
