Field Notes

Description:

Brightly colored jumping spider. About 5mm in size. Mimics ants in movement.. may be in chemical signature too. Because the ant species it preys on never seem to mind it moving among them. This is a female. Males do have front legs like bottle brushes. Always keeps the front legs as if in greeting. May be imitating antennae of ants.

Habitat:

Spotted on a banana plant in my garden.
