Field Notes

Description:

Plant Green to ochre or golden. Capitulum more or less flat, stellate; 2-3 pendant branches with 2 spreading at 90 degree angles from the stem. Stem rigid and snaps cleanly when broken; stem leaves slightly tapered at middle then widening towards the tip; tip fabricate or notched.

Habitat:

North Side of Mt. Baring in an old growth forest. Growing in large extensive mats extending from creek-side trail uphill.
