The bird in the front looks like a drake Mottled Duck, with the dark plumage and pale head + green bill. The hen in the rear does resemble a Mallard, though, with the patterning and white tail. Pairs like this often result in "Muddled" Ducks, Mallard x Mottled hybrids, which are increasing in Florida, threatening the wild Mottled Duck population.
Ya, I agree with you Malcolm.. It's more like female Mallards.. :)
I think female Mallards from the orange legs, Blue-winged Teal female has yellow legs and Garganey female has grey legs, otherwise all 3 are very similar. Garganey in Florida are pretty rare.
