Field Notes

Description:

A single layer of rounded spore-bearing fruiting bodies ( about 1 mm wide) on short shiny stalks. All of these sacs showed a dark speck. The colour of these globular bodies ranged from pale peach to grey to black. Also seen amongst these were patches of white material - ? plasmodium.

Habitat:

Spotted on the sawn-off surface a damp decaying Radiata Pine log.

Interesting not a species that I have come across.

Looks like it. Or maybe some other animal ate them. I guess they can be eaten
Will remember this one, for sure. that little disc makes it really interesting. We went back 4 days later to have a look for changes and it had vanished without a trace !. Might have been a too late by then ?
