Notes:

I believe it is this http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Podaxis_pistillaris.html but it was very yellow (older) and already exposing the spores on the inside. All of the pictures I have seen have been white, so I am not sure. Also, there was no stem that I could see without disturbing the dirt.
