Yep, I only put eight in the title but all of the related info I posted is for the six spotted.

Well common names are common names, but the one used for this species is "six spotted tiger beetle" (even though yours, perhaps not uncommonly, has eight spots). See http://bugguide.net/node/view/292601 :-)
