Bark Louse (Psocid)

An especially pretty little Bark Louse of 6 mm in length. This one is relatively rare. The wings are clear with a dark brown line along the lower edge (which ends up on top with the wings at rest) as well as a line of erect little hairs. With clear wings, you can see how very small the abdomen is in comparison to the length of the wings. The antennae are almost always at least twice the length of the body. Family Psocidae, Order Psocoptera.
