Field Notes

Description:

red body color, around 2 cm length, This species is flying and drinking water in the small pond.

Habitat:

In the guest house area near Mae Ngat Dam, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

This isn't an Eumenes, but Delta conoideum.
It is beautiful, but it also looks like it could light you up if it was angry.

although the coloration is differently and e.latreilli lives in australia, they could be closely related to each other indeed !

no sorry the eumenes is solitary too but in each pot is only one single chamber ... delta builds several chambers ...
delta are solitary / the elongated mandibulae can be found in several eumenes species !
Thank you John La Salle, Hymenoptera is one of the hard identification group.
Possibly Delta rather than Eumenes. I am not too clear on the differences between these two genera.
