Field Notes

Description:

Well I now know this is a Horned Coreid Bug - Cletus sp., and a member of the Family Coreidae. This specimen was a small bug, no more than 10mm in length from tip of antennae to end of abdomen. Brown to olive green in colour (from memory). Thorax and abdomen very boxy in shape. Large rostrum similar to that of Assassin Bug, although this one well hidden underneath.

Habitat:

Unknown to me. Apparently they like flowers, ponds, etc. but this one was found in a car park, nowhere near any of these.

Notes:

Not the best photos. Sorry. Overcast day, and the bug was very small. Found this one on the roof of a car.

I think we have a winner. Thanks, Agnes. I looked at the nabidae species but couldn't quite match it, Mark. Cheers anyway.
Interesting one. Maybe check nabidae which are brown but I don't think so boxy.
