Description:

Size 17-21 mm for the species. Marked as shown. Nocturnal in habits.

Habitat:

This specimen was attracted to a mercury vapor light and blacklight setup at night in Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge in south Texas.

Notes:

These insects can inflict very painful bites in self-defense.
