Field Notes

Description:

Largish Scorpion, at around 4.5cm excluding the 'tail'. Red brown in colour, except the last two segments of the 'tail', which were of a greenish grey. Its sting is considered a health risk!

Habitat:

Found at night on a tree trunk in tropical rainforest on the Osa Peninsula.

Notes:

A study from Panama considers this species to be potentially lethal.
