Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Certainly a Junonia sp., however, it could also be Junonia evarete, also found in Brazil. There were a lot of discussion about these two species, ending in frustration about many wrongly IDed, even in museums, and no finding of a reliable clue for separating them from each other. If you can clearly see the underside of the antenna, you may have a little chance to get a safer ID. Personally I would go with Junonia sp. with mentioning the 2 possible candidates or maybe as a compromise Junonia evarete/genoveva.
