Field Notes

Description:

tiny orchid, speckled pink and white, see fourth photo for scale, last photo I'm tapping the open seed pod and the seeds are scattering with the wind

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, amazon

Notes:

I spotted a few of these growing near the base of large rocks at Canalendres. I had to look close to see that is was actually an orchid. It's the showiest small orchid I've seen.

Thanks Mark. I've recently joined an Orchid group on FB and got the ID there, so I'm hoping I can get more ID's for my unknown orchids in the future.
Thanks Gerardo, Kathleen, Leanne and wachmmadm. I'm happy that I was able to get an ID for this. I don't have any photos in vertical position. It was tough enough getting these photos. That is a very cool Bulbo in the link, never seen one like that.
Did you capture it in vertical position? This is out of topic but i think also interesting small orchid http://florzinha-de-estufa.blogspot.com/2008/10/bulbophyllum-moniliforme.html
Yes, Jonathan, that was my bad not adding that pic. I've added it now. What do you think of maybe Epidendrum fimbriatum?
Thanks Jolly, drP and Debbie. It is quite an attractive tiny flower.
Wow. What a lovely, tiny orchid!
