Field Notes

Description:

Part of the Hespiriidae family but could be confused as a moth due to the way it rests with its wings flat and also perhaps its size as its wingspan is only 2.5- 3.5cm. The plant in this photo is a Birds foot trefoil so that gives some idea of how small it actually is as these legumes are tiny in theirself.

Habitat:

found in a the meadows of Sprotborough flash, a natural site owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.

Thank you Tom, I agree, the name is a little mean for this skipper.
