Field Notes

Description:

The zebra swallowtail has triangular wings that have a wingspan of 4.1 inches. They have long tails and a distinctive black-and-white pattern that is reminiscent of a zebra.

Habitat:

Spotted near a wooded area near Lake Ouachita in Arkansas.

Notes:

Ranges in the southeastern United States. Females lay their eggs on pawpaw tree leaves or trunks.
