Description:
Interesting long-arching stems with umbels of 2-3 white, very delicate urn-like flowers at the leaf axils. With the sun shining above, you can see the really interesting parallel veining in the leaves. It reminds me of the structures of orchids (Tipularia discolor) native to the same area.
Habitat:
Native thoughout the eastern two-thirds of the United States and Canada. Habitats include moist to slightly dry deciduous woodlands, shady seeps, young flatwoods, woodland borders, and fencerows that are overgrown with shrubs or trees. Less often, this plant may occur in meadows near woodlands and mesic prairies. Solomon's Seal occurs in both high quality and degraded woodlands.

Spotted along the road in Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
