Field Notes

Description:

A solitary loon bobbing just beyond the low breakers, near the tide pools. It would go under water frequently, but never for any longer than a minute. Often it would come back up very near it's original location.

Habitat:

Rocky California Coast.

Notes:

I had no idea that loons lived in CA. I always think of them as a Minnesota bird.
