Field Notes

Description:

One clear wild canine track in the mud.

Habitat:

Yellowstone National Park, WY, USA

Notes:

I wish I had gotten a measurement on this track, but some items in the photo lead me to believe it's about 3" - 3.5" in diameter. I have no real experience comparing wolf and coyote tracks, so any educated help would be appreciated.

Species ID Suggestions

Coyote

Canis latrans

It's in the notes - - I believe it's about 3" - 3.5" in diameter . . . large for a coyote, but small for a wolf.
