Description:

Early purple Orchids are one of the first to come in to bloom in Britain, the colour does vary from a really deep purple to a very delicate pink. This orchid however doesnt produce nectar but it attracts bees by mimicking other orchid species that do. It is said in ancient folklore that witches used the tuber of this orchid in love potions!

Habitat:

seen growing in Low common meadow Maltby which is owned/ maintained by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.
