Field Notes

Description:

This bird has white wings. The dark back is a special colouration during mating season.

Habitat:

Wetlands, Near waterbodies. Even open drains where there is vegetation and fish.

Notes:

This one caught a Channa punctatus from an open drain with some sort of connection (I think) to open ponds nearby (maybe when it rains a lot and the area floods). I saw it fight off a couple of crows and position itself safely to swallow the fish; headfirst.
