Field Notes

Description:

These three formidable toms were out in a pasture among a herd of white-tailed deer. It was raining torrentially off and on for several hours, but neither the turkeys nor the deer seemed to be botherd as we saw many of them in various fields around the cove.

Habitat:

Wild turkeys prefer hardwood and mixed conifer-hardwood forests with scattered openings such as pastures, fields, orchards and seasonal marshes.

Notes:

Spotted in a rainy pasture off the park loop road.
