Field Notes

Description:

Saw this group grazing in a field. There were at least five, but may have been others out of sight. One eventually noticed me and and alerted the others in typical whitetail fashion by raising it's tail as a flag and screaming.

They're starting to change back to their summer coloration, which is a reddish brown. Whitetail winter coats are typically a gray-brown to help them blend into the scenery a bit better.

Habitat:

Woodlands, fields.
