Field Notes

Description:

Very common large bird that can be seen nearly anywhere between Canada and Mexico as it migrates back and forth.

Notes:

I didn't even notice this particular goose until I was almost on top of her. She never moved, despite my being within about five feet - I'm fairly certain she was guarding a nest. I snapped a couple pictures, and then left her alone. I saw no other geese in the area (I don't usually see them at all in this area, which is usually rife with hawks, eagles, great blue herons and REALLY big carrion feeders)
