Field Notes

Description:

3 foot long body with short dark brown fur. I believe the female has orange fur around her face.

Habitat:

Deep in the Amazonas jungle

Notes:

Very very rare spotting of a Howler Monkey. My guide had only see three in his 12 years as a guide.

Wow Peter! Did your guide mention any common name? If he told you he hadn't see any of them in 12 years... There is this howler who is listed as Critically Endangered in Brazil, Northern Brown Howler monkey (Alouatta guariba guariba), but as I said on Martin howler's picture, I can't be that sure either! But its so cool you got to see it.
