Field Notes

Description:

Golden orange & cream fungi approx. 110mm across, irregular shape, sponge-like orange & cream colour underside of cup, held just above on thick orange stem emerging from leaf litter after rain, top deeply grooved with what look like expansion cracks as the specimen grows & ages. Assistance with ID very welcome.

Habitat:

Found emerging from leaf litter in dry Eucalypt woodland after heavy rainfall in north east NSW.
