Description:

Colourful winged insects.

Habitat:

Caught them in the act on the leaves of an Adhatoda vasika plant.

Scott Frazier So sorry had not checked...thanks for taking the trouble of cross-checking. Plenty of mangoes in my yard too...explains their distended tummies, I guess.
You're welcome. I just checked and Micropezid flies are either predators on small insects or feed on rotting fruit/excrement. I have a lot of rotting fruit in my yard/garden and see these flies (similar to yours) fairly often so maybe that's what they are eating.
Thanks Scott Frazier. Are these blood sucking? Their tummies look so distended.
I love the way they "box"...at least the species frequenting my place :-)
