Las Orquídeas epífitas constituyen más del 90% del total de especies. Cuelgan de árboles o de arbustos. Son las más vistosas y las que encontramos a la venta normalmente. Proceden de las regiones tropicales. No son parásitas. Sus necesidades son escasas y obtienen el agua de la humedad del aire con raíces aéreas.
