Field Notes
Description:
Check out the wicked camouflage on this moth! It looks so much like a chunk of lichen that if it had been on a tree instead of the paved path we never would have noticed it.
Habitat:
Spotted in a densely forested area (mixed conifers and deciduous trees) in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, specifically Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
Notes:
Photo taken by one of my students.
