Field Notes

Description:

Family: Sphingidae, Subfamily: Smerinthinae (Eyed Sphinx Moths) Total Length: 2.50 inches( 45-65 mm), Wingspan: 4 inches (101.6 mm). Gray FW has dark gray median band surrounding small white spot. Scalloped Hingwings. Color is grayish/olive/brown. Adults do not have mouth parts. Hosts: Poplar, aspen, cottonwood and willow.

Habitat:

Near woodlands, meadow, fields, lawns (Comes to light)

I tried to get her on my finger and she flew all around the front porch area and then landed and I put the ruler there real fast and got the photos before the taking off photos and video. She was fine!
