Field Notes

Description:

Lycaenidae; Lycaeninae; Polyommatini; Catochrysops strabo luzonensis Tite, 1959. There were three or four of this species in a small area this morning. Lycaeninae are often difficult to photograph because they tend to be hyper-active and these were no exception. I was trying to get a picture of one which seemed to be in good condition, but ended up with only these rather poor shots of some tattered specimens. Perhaps the last picture is the undamaged one. However, tattered or not, there is something about the Lycaeninae; Polyommatini which makes them very appealing and I often get distracted by them when I am trying to photograph something else.

Habitat:

Spotted flitting from plant to plant in the rice mill backyard.
