Field Notes

Description:

Large, warm brown in coloration. Typical feathered antennae of male midges. Mosquito-like appearance. Long, thin abdomen that tapers and curves at the end. Some patterning on thorax. Possible Genus Chironomus.

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Wooded campground.

Notes:

There were tons of different types of midges from very tiny to this large guy.
