Description:

Apis cerana, or the Asiatic honey bee (or the Eastern honey bee), is a species of honey bee found in southern and southeastern Asia, such as China, India, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea. This species is the sister species of Apis koschevnikovi, and both are in the same subgenus as the Western (European) honey bee, Apis mellifera...... wikipedia

Notes:

spotted these bees nesting in the cement electric utility pole infront of our house. The hole was being used by utility personnel by inserting a rod where they step on climbing the utility pole. The pole had a hallowed inside.
