Field Notes

Description:

Large common owl. Ear tufts and wide spread yellow eyes with V shaped over the eyes to give it an angry look. Light brown facial discs. Mottled brown with patterned back and barred front. Tail is short with round bottom. Night hunter and hard to find in the daylight because of the camo like coloring. These owls that enjoys eating skunks.

Thank you Luis and Bernadette. The owlet I was told is nearby but didn't see it. There were two owlets from the nest. So far only one has been noticed by the park staff and birders. They still have their down feathers.
