Field Notes

Description:

Small (1cm tall, 4mm cap diameter) brownish mushroom.

Habitat:

Mixed native and alien mid-elevation tropical montane forest.

Notes:

Spotted growing in vegetative litter along the north side of Aiea Loop Trail, just southwest of the junction with Kalauao Valley Trail. The first image shows the specimen in situ. The second is a close-up of the gills, with mm scale at the top of the image. The third shows the cap one hour after collection. Nearby specimens were noted, but not disturbed.
