Description:

Beige form of this Mantis species. Still young and most likely a male due the number of segments on the abdomen. Orange color on parts of the legs.

Habitat:

Found on a fence post of range fields.

I looked it up and it said southwest Ca, Az and Texas
... not sure what map you were referencing. I did not have a distribution map of Iris oratoria posted at the time of my initial comment. But I shall post one now on the researchgate site that demonstrates the known distribution of this species in California.
