Hi Technopony13, don't give up! I would say at least half of my spottings were seen in my back yard in a suburban neighborhood. Sometimes all it takes is to slow down and observe what is around you. For instance, if you have flowering plants in your yard, there is a good chance that insects will be attracted to them. I also visit local parks near me, like the one where I found this gall. I am sure you will begin to find interesting organisms. You would be amazed at how wonderful even something as common as a fly can become when you take a closer look. :)
