Field Notes

Description:

Yellow Margin Moray Eel hanging out in a horizontal crevice in a reef wall.

Habitat:

Near shore tropical waters; coral reef ecosystem.

Notes:

Spotted off of Leeward Oahu; location shown is notional. Month and day notional; year is known with certainty. In my experience, this species' disposition tends to be on the mellow side. Original medium 35 mm color slide, taken with Nikonos V using flash; film subsequently scanned and image saved as digital file.

Thanks Sargon. Actually, this does not seem a tough call at all. It seems pretty obvious after looking at lot of pictures online. With any initiative, I could have made the ID myself. I'm glad someone had initiative!
Tough one, my guess would be Yellow Margined Moray Eel. See reference above.
